Some women are indeed able to give birth without much stress. It can be attributable to the essential factors influencing the process of labor and delivery, such as the 5Ps – Passenger, Passage, Powers, Placenta, and Psychology (We will discuss this later).
It is also possible that in some cases, as a result of emergency or ignorance, some women have given birth on their own without external help. Such occurrences could be God’s intervention to save a helpless woman, but that does not mean every woman should begin to pray for a delivery where they would not need any assistance.
Misconceptions like this have caused numerous maternal and child death in developing countries. Other factors such as poverty, ignorance, and a poor-quality health care system have all contributed to ranking these nations with the high maternal mortality rates in the world.
In African society today, many people and cultures still condemn Caesarean Section. It is vitally important to understand that Caesarean Section and other medical interventions during childbirth are not Taboos. These medical practices are carried out for safe delivery, to help save the lives of both mother and child, and should not appear to be a sacrilege. Giving birth via Caesarean section does not make you less of a woman.
It is still God’s divine intervention through medical science and technology to save both mother and Child. For the good of society and all to the glory of God.
